James D. Whisenand is chairman of the US law firm Whisenand & Turner. He has advised on numerous corporate and real estate transactions valued up to US$1.2 billion, including acquisitions of banks by non-U.S. groups.
He acted on structuring the first bank-to-bank acquisition of a Florida bank by a foreign bank; advised on the entry of numerous European and Latin American banks into the United States; and assisted Miami's effort to accelerate its role as an emerging capital markets/merchant bank center for Latin America.
Mr. Whisenand has been listed in several Who's Who publications, including Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. Whisenand & Turner is ranked among the top 100 leading international law firms, according to International Financial Law Review 1000.
In 1975, Mr. Whisenand was appointed Deputy Attorney General of Florida and as acting Attorney General, advising the Florida Governor and the Florida Supreme Court on a day-to-day basis.
Mr. Whisenand received his M.B.A and his J.D. degree cum laude from Florida State University in 1973. He is a member of the Florida and District of Colombia bars.
